circlip pliers

I need to buy a new set of circlip pliers. They need to be small enough to do that small circlip on the end of the brake/clutch lever pivot pin. I've found plenty of general purpose internal/external sets on the net but they all look too big. Am I concerned over nothing? Will they fit?

Any suggestions....

Re: circlip pliers

Those circlips you mention on the pivot pins are small and will require a set of pliers that don't do much else other than tiny circlips.

I've got Snap-On pliers with the changable ends...internal and external. These do it perfectly.

Brian.

Re: circlip pliers

Two choices; either do as Brian says and get a set with small tips......

..... or grind the tips down on your regular ones so that they don't work on bigger circlips and you have to buy a new set!

Re: circlip pliers

Ive removed those circlips many times, changing levers ect, you can do it with a small screwdriver, no need to use/buy circlip pliers.

Re: circlip pliers

circlip pliers come in different sizes just spend the money and buy them as you need them, having the right tool for the job makes life a lot easier

and with tools you get what you pay for, if you buy cheap circlip pliers from the local market you will probvably end up buying decent ones from a decent engineering shop later on when they f**k up

using screwdrivers to get circlips off is fine, especially when the circlip flies off into middle distance and you either have to crawl around on the floor looking for it or drive to an engineering shop to get another one

Re: circlip pliers

Thanks for the suggestions.

The scenario with the screwdriver followed by the endless hunting for the circlip is pretty much the reason for wanting to find some pliers. Funny how its never only yourself that does these things...

I have ordered a set of "small" cirlip pliers. Nothing fancy but something to do the job. I cant see that they would be used for anything else so as long as they do this task, that will suffice.
