Talking shipping from Canada

Hello from BC Canada. Planning a trip to UK/Europe in 2009, but have no info on shipping our bikes over. Also, what insurance do we need? Green Card? and if so, do we get that easily over there, or do we purchase it here. People we have talked to here have little or no experience on shipping motorbikes overseas, and it is very difficult getting the correct information. Maybe one of you forum members can help us. Thanks!!!!

Re: shipping from Canada

Hi welcome to the site, here's a site that ships motorcycles, Canada motorcycle shipping, Canada motorcycle transport, Canada motorcycle moving, canada motorcycle transporting I don't like the prices, type in to Google search that's where i got this one. maybe you could consider renting the insurance will be in the price, if you still decide to bring your bikes you will need to contact your insurance company, they may not cover you for Europe.

Re: shipping from Canada

I thought if you want insurance you have to give them your home address so I would think that's best arranged from Canada. You could hire bikes here but am not sure if you can take them outside the Uk for touring the rest of Europe.

Here's a couple of useful links;

I'm not sure whether its worth getting HOG membership just for the insurance abroad, but they're pretty organised on the recovery and shipping side as well. Might be worth checking.
Most insurance companies over here only cover you for 30 days abroad.

Claridon HOG - Services

My wife and I shipped our Glide to the US in 2003 for the Centenary, using Claridon. They provided all the advice and help we needed.

The costs include shipping the bike, plus shipping insurance while it is in transit. Being foreigners in the USA a month's insurance while riding over there cost about the same as my year's premium over here! There is nothing cheap when doing this sort of thing.

As life members of HOG we didn't need to join, but did join HOG Assist, just in case.

Re: shipping from Canada

We are HOG members, and haven't really even thought about asking them. Thanks for the info. We are up against a brick wall when trying to ship our bike from Canada to the UK. Canada seems to be a bit behind when shipping this kind of thing. Either that or we just haven't found the right firm to deal with.
