Anyone that can make the Slough area: The Make a Wish Foundation

This is from Rachel at the BMF:

MEET THIS FRIDAY 21st DECEMBER 2008 -

Hello everybody, hope you are all well. Please excuse the BMF for contacting you this way, especially if you ticked the "no" box, but we felt that this was a slightly different circumstance and I am sure you will understand.

We have been approached by The Make a Wish Foundation (MaWF). This is an organisation that asks terminally ill children what they would wish for and then tries to deliver.

They have been asked by Jack, a six year old, if he could have some motorcycles ride past his bedroom window. He can not go out and is unlikely to see in the New Year. The BMF has been asked to help.

Although Jack lives in Slough, I have used the email addresses of all individual members in Slough and affiliate clubs in regions 5 and 6, together with the emails I have for National and One Make clubs. I realise that many of you may live too far away to be able to take part in this venture but you may have friends or colleagues living nearer, who are willing to go and support Jack and his family.

The MaWF have said that they will buy Jack some Christmas presents for the motorcyclists to deliver and so all the BMF has been asked to provide are the riders/bikes.

West London Harley are involved and we are liaising with them.

The BMF Chairman, Anna Zee, will be taking part, together with as many volunteers as we can muster.

The ride will meet at The Farnham Pump on the Farnham Rd, Farnham Royal, Slough, Berkshire, SL2 3AS (This is the A355) on Friday 21st December at 4.30pm. Fancy dress will bring an added smile if anyone can muster something up at this late stage. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS MEETING POINT STILL HAS TO BE CONFIRMED- WATCH THIS SPACE.

I can't make it Baza but it certainly brings home how fragile life can be and how what are small things to us can make a difference in someone's life.

I hope that there are enough people available to make this a "wish come true" for Jack.

Baz, I'll try and make it if I can get round the wife! Meant to be Xmas shopping then late afternoon drinks in the Chequers with friends but I'll work on her.....might take all night but I'm sure it will be worth it!!! Do you know where the ride-out is taking us? Assume it's local.

If I don't see you have a good Christmas and that goes for all in the HDRCGB.

May your stockings be filled with lots of goodies.....I know mine will be!!!

Cheers,

Foxy & Angie :-)))

I would love to have been a part of this group but it's just to short notice and I have commitments I can't change now , I now won't enjoy my self at all tonight!! but if anyone meets Jack tell him there are a whole load of bikers thinking of him tonight!!

Re: Anyone that can make the Slough area: The Make a Wish Foundation

From seeing Jack thisevening Im going on to Basingstoke to see one of my friends who is in a similar situation,,, some of you may know him Sam,,, he used to have a clothes stall at just about all of the rallies. Got a brain tumour about 6 months ago and none of the treatment has worked. Now got DVT cant talk or do bugger all else. Hes 42 never drunk ,smoked or done much else wrong (played seriously good guitar though ) going to leave a beautifull wife and a teenage daughter, Ann and Holly.

Sort of makes you realise how fragile life is
