Importing "Chopper" from the USA

.......I'm seriously thinking about importing a new chopper from the states. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, particularly about the SVA; but I'd also like to speak anyone who has actually imported a custom bike to these shores.

Thanks

Re: Importing "Chopper" from the USA

Be careful.

You will have little or no dealer support this end if it is Big Dog, American Ironhorse etc.

Resale will be poor (remember Titan? The buyers could not sell them after the Finchley Road shop closed in the late 1990s)

And watch out for non S&S engines. Proprietory parts will be difficult and keep you off the road.

Give thundercity in leeds a ring they've done loads of sva's on imported choppers as well as being an importer for Big Bear and will tell you all that you need to know. Tel 01132406332.

Re: Importing "Chopper" from the USA

......thanks, YB. As luck would have it, my local HD dealership has recently imported a custom bike and had to prepare it for the SVA; the Dealership Principle has offered to help (thanks John) with advice. I'm going to keep a diary about my trails and tribulation of importing and putting the chopper through the SVA then submitting it to the 'Quinn.

.......my main problem at the moment is finding a chopper I like - think matt black Captain America with a 300 rear end. Must have stainless spoked wheels as I hate billet wheels more than I dislike strawberry fool.

Re: Importing "Chopper" from the USA

Hey there,
Why don't you speak to Kev French at Le Rock
LeRock

He does lots of sva's on custom bikes or could build you a custom to your spec.
He has customers all over europe and is a top guy to work with.
Cheers
Justin
