Hi, I'm after a bit of advice please. I've just had to put my bike on SORN, I've just renewed the insurance, and it isn't on the database yet. I tried to renew the tax online and there is no record of my insurance. I phoned Harley Insurance Services to see if they could gee up the company they placed the business with, and was told I'd just have to wait until it happened. There was nothing they could do. I won't ride my bike without tax because of all the fancy cameras being put up around my area at the moment...sods law says I'll get caught. Is there anyone I can contact to get this hurried up...would the insurance company actually take any notice of me if I contacted them. Next year I'm going to stagger the dates for MOT, tax, and insurance so this can't happen again. Any advice is always welcomed. Brian.

If you have the paper copy you can tax it at a Post Office, but you run the risk if stopped that you are not insured because you are not in the Database. I have a similar problem with a multi-bike policy, only the first bike is on the database.

take the insurance certificate, v5 and mot (if youve had one yet) to the post office to get tax. carry your insurance certificate with you incase you get pulled by the police with there vcar thingys, that way even if you dont show on the database, you have the proof in your hands. just explain to them that youve only just renewed and its not been put on the database yet. there is a site posted on here somewhere that you can check to see if its on there. dan |
