Helmet Alert !!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO NO NO !!! I mean the helmet on your head ! .

I was cleaning my open face Nitro visor and decided to unclip it from the helmet to get in all the areas I cant normally get at. Did a real good job then re assembled it on the kitchen table.
I picked it up to hang it in the garage and noticed a crosshead screw, about a quarter inch long laying next to my cleaning cloth.
I couldnt figure where it came from. I took a second look at the helmet and unclipped the visor again.
There are two screws each side under where the visor swivels. . One screw was missing. I got a screwdriver, and sure enough that spare screw fitted. I checked the other screws and they were loose also.
These screws secure the chin straps anchorages each side.
CHECK YOURS OUT BEFORE IT CHECKS YOU OUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Helmet Alert !!!!!!!!!!!!!

My nitro served me ok when I had a bail out last year, although it did chip the paintwork. Shame the fuel tank on the bike wasn't as strong - bloody yank junk !!

Re: Helmet Alert !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not so sure about the whole cheap helmet = cheap head argument.

Provided it meets the BS safety regs - I think the most important thing is that it fits you and that it gets replaced regularly.

Last weekend I brought a Nitro open face to replace my much more expensive Davida - beautifully made but it didn't fit me - not because I got the wrong size but it just seems the wrong shape for me.

£60 versus £175 and I can go for 20miles without getting a headache. And it's got a visor too.

As I ride every day my helmet takes a fair bit of wear and tear (...there's a gag in there somewhere) - so I'd rather get something I can afford to replace every year or so.

I just bought my first new O/F helmet in about 14 years!! Now I realise how bad the old one was/could have been!!
