Re: Harley Agusta anyone

Could actually be quite exciting.

Having owned both an HD (Deuce) and an MV (F4 1000) at the same time it was always a difficult call as to which was the most fun to ride / stare at in the garage.

Personally I'd love to see the MoCo's marketing muscle and money behind a fantastic marque like MV.

If that's the case, I think we need a change to the constitution. MV make superb bikes, but not a comfortable fit with Harleys

You could offer the same argument about Armstrongs Roger, although I'd hardly call them superb.

How many MV's are we likely to see at our rallies, loaded up with tent/sleeping bag/panniers? To mess with the constitution over this is a bit of a "sledgehammer to crack a nut" IMO since it's unlikely to affect the Club's core membership.

Mind you if someone turned up on a 1970's 750S I'd let 'em in free just so I could drool over the bike all weekend!

A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

Re: Harley Agusta anyone

Here's irony for ya. Guess which owners club, out of over 60 , had a stand directly next to ours at mallory park at the weekend ? yup, MV.
Very nice too.

Personally, I can't see MV's appearing in Harley stores. It's hard enough to get sports bike riders into a Harley store to try a Buell.

I'd not be shocked, in a few years time, to see a number of carefully selected Harley dealers invited to take on the MV brand in stand alone premises.

Well I suppose we should take them over. What do you think.

Doesn't MV own Cagiva? So HD sold the company then bought the company. Good to have consistent corporate vision.
By the by, I believe that Cagiva make Mini Mokes in portugal. What price a Harley Davidson Mini Moke. I'd want one.

.
Bridgewater have a decent shop with both Ducati and Harley in it, seems to work for them and nobody seems to mind

Its a lot better and a vast improvement over the small pokey Harley only dealership in Nottingham

Yes, visited Bridgewater on the way back from Minehead (don't go there, ever..) and was surprised to see both varieties on the same floor.
I'm told that Alvin's (RIP) was forced to have a Harley exclusive shop or nothing when they moved from their old store off Leith Walk down to Seafield Road, as Harley tolerated the multi-marque showroom only in an existing showroom to which Harley had been added in the past, but would not tolerate it in any new outlet. They lost the dealership to the short lived Dunedin in Dunfermline. If that were true, you wonder how Bridgewater get away with it, in what looks like a pretty new place.

If Harley owns 100% of MV Agusta, then MV becomes a sub-set of Harley, and by definition, owners of MV made (or sold?) after the takeover, own a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, as do Cagiva owners. Husqvarna was in that group too, but was sold off to BMW last year; could have been a cherry for them, gven the poularirty of the US dirt bike market...

I don't see us getting swamped with MV or Cagiva owners eager to join the potato potato club....

Re: Harley Agusta anyone

I have been dredging all my contacts at the Motor Company. Right up to middle management nobody has a clue.
In fact a great many of the staff are pretty po`d at spending all that money, as they have just had a round of lay-offs.
Principal & I will ply Willie G with new Euro Budweiser & force the plans out of him next week.

Well here's one who would join-

Dougie has turned up to a number of HDRCGB rallies on his 1974 Ducati 750 Sport and I think he turned up at Tan Hill last year on his MV 350 Ipotesi Sport pictured above.

He's buying a Harley next year, can't decide yet on which one but more than likely a Sportster- I'm sure he'd love to come to Oz this year if he was allowed on site?
