But John if we all used B&B's you would say 'Why anyone would want to sleep in a B&B is beyond me, FFS get a tent.'

'cause that's just you!

Lol! I'd much rather my own tent than a smelly b&b any day ;-)

Way too pricey for the minimal comfort offered. Really.

I now follow Dantheman's tip and buy 20 quid inflatable kingsize mattresses from Argos and the like. The cheaply made seams mean they dont last all that long, but the comfort is different class.

It packs down small in my big waterproof kit bag with a12V mini inflation pump (also Argos) which has the plug snipped off and replaced by 50p alligator clips. Connect to bike battery on arrival.

So easy ..... and what a great night's sleep......assisted by an intake of mashed and liquidised barley and hops, of course!
you got it dave, i like me comfort now,6 quid pump, cut off plug and put a male and female on the wires run two wires from yer battery tucked away for when yer camping with corresponding male and female, argos air mattress20 quid should last you two or three seasons and as you know it aint exactly warm up here ,but anita and oor kim are always toastie toastie ,cause they kick me on the groundsheet,

Re: camping opinion

i have a thermarest mattress its about 10 years old but was horrendously expensive and frankly never self inflated after a couple of months. If you sleep on your side they dont offer much comfort however it is a great heat insulator. I bought a cheap inflatable mattress from Tesco at around a fiver thats good enough for me although if i saw the aldi lidl versions i may well buy one at less than a tenner just because they fold up smaller.

Re: camping opinion

Ready Beds (also known as quick beds) are good.. a mattress and attached sleeping bag all in one. You can get them at Tesco Direct or Argos for around £15 and they were fine at the Dart Rally....just the one roll to put on the bike

Re: camping opinion

Currently going through this same debate myself. Bought a cheap £9.99 airbed in tescos last week to do a rally on Saturday night, blew it up and by the time I was ready to crash out that night half the air had gone Took it back and got a refund
My other half has a self inflating sleep mat and swears by it, they still roll up small, and apparently very comfy- well worth the money as they last and last. So perhaps I will invest in one.
Or steal his seems to be a better option
