You can tax your vehicle with one months mot and ins left. So you could display a valid tax disc for 11 months without either ins or mot.

So I think they should all show on one disc, but as said the cops can check it within minutes. It's just for the wardens I suppose and the 3rd party if you have an accident?

I don't think it is a sinister move?

I haven't had a tax disc on my bike since '89 after one got stolen. Never been done by the plod or their minions. I have been stopped a few times and I've had them scrutinize the bike (The old Sporty with the hacksawed off rear mudguard anyway) as well but no one has ever mentioned the lack of a tax disc. I have always had the tax though just in case you think I don't pay it. I just don't leave it on the bike. With the Sporty I used to keep it under the seat but with the nightrain I leave it in the garage.

It's a real bummer when you can't find anything to gripe about.
