Camping in the fens ?

As it promises to be the wettest weekend of the year I thought I'd take myself off for the weekend (did the same last year for the Sportster rally).

I want to have a look at Flag Fen near Peterborough and wondered if anyone had any recommendations for bike friendly campsites in the area ?

Of course if the rain's too silly I might end up in a Travelodge ...

Re: Camping in the fens ?

The Anglia region meeting place is the Plough at Pondersbridge Peterborough. This is used for bike shows etc. and has camping facilities out the back. Our next meeting there is this Friday.

Go to the Anglia section and there is a bit about the Plough...it's a sticky, so it's at the top somewhere.

Brian.

Flag Fen is excellent, though not in the rain as much. Enjoy

Re: Camping in the fens ?

Brian

Thanks - It's actually this Friday that I'm planning to go to Flag Fen so that could be a perfect solution.

Do I need to phone the landlord first about the camping or is it cool just to turn up ? And are any of the Anglia members daft enough to be camping too?

Hopefully see you then

ChrisH

Re: Camping in the fens ?

I would phone up first, just to be sure....I've never camped there myself.

Nickdj from Anglia mentioned that he might camp over on Friday.

See you at our meeting hopefully.

Brian.

2 things to remember if you are venturing into the fens:

1. Learn to swim or grow webs between your toes.
2. Don't go out alone after dark.

Apparently even Mort takes friends on his long & winding trips through the highways & byways of north Cambs. Oh wait up though, I think that's just so someone might know the route.
