Urgent help needed

Now ,you will know why I dont want to do my own servicing!!!

Today, I attempted to change the oil on my 04 sportster. All went swimmingly until I noticed that I had poured transmission fluid in instead of oil .

I realised straight away and drained it . I had also put it in the oil filter .

Will I be OK to top it up(with oil !!!!) , and run it to get it warm, and then just do another oil change? Ive got some Engine Flush stuff, should I use that as well?
Will I have done any damage?

Hey Sal

There may be an oil expert here who may contradict me.... but transmission fluid is just another type of oil.

Drain it - flush it - and fill with the good stuff.

Now sit down, have a cup of tea, take a deep breath and start again.

Take it easy, Kev

Drain the oil out, remove the filter and drain that. Refit the filter and put the correct oil in. Run the engine until hot and drain it all out again. Refill with fresh engine oil and forget about it from then on. No damage will come of it.

Hey John its an easy mistake to make, iv nearly done it myself especialy if your using Harleys own brand of oil as the 1litre bottles are the same shape & colour
No harm done in the end though

And I'd skip the flushing oil, you're dealing with wrong grade of oil not diesel or sludge.
