| Re: Oswestry 2008; your comments please. O.K......so what can WE do...the members that is.... Asking for volunteers at the event is one thing (perhaps this could be made more 'formal' with a list of 'requirements' posted here/in the Quin and folk could volunteer from there. This would have the advantage of people knowing in advance when they were 'on duty'. At Festivals volunteers are usually 'paid' with free tickets to the event. It works like this.....you pay for your ticket and when you have undertaken your duties satisfactorily, you get your money back....would this help?. If you feel you don't want the free ticket that is your perogative but it might just get a few more volunteers...... Perhaps if the 'OZ Committee' kept us more informed of what was needed well in advance, perhaps club members might be able to donate there expertise? (I will offer to design and produce the posters/flyers and programmes as well as two or three five meter banners F.O.C). I will help with any off site 'direction' signage as well As for the music - all been said, doubt if it will be improved by a non local Region organising it, as the bands are predominently 'home talent' So lets stop whining and do as Kev has suggested GET INVOLVED.

| Re: Oswestry 2008; your comments please. I have never made OZ when the club moved the national to that venue as was relocated to the States with my job but attended the last HDRRCGB arranged Shipley, while doing the Region 19 security stint in the middle of the night we were accused by a couple of shit-faced female local chavs of sexually assulting them. When I threatened to call the cops, so they could formally complain, they pissed off sharpish! That aside the venue was acceptable if a little basic and as Kev points out the dirt track up to the site can be a bit challenging & intimidating for less experinced riders. I went to Littlecoat the year before which was IMO by far the better venue although as Kev points out v expensive. R, S.

| Re: Oswestry 2008; your comments please. Firstly these comments are from Bev-Hog. Partner of Trev-Hog Oswestry 2007 - what a fantastic rally - great weather, as always great company and great music!! I've been ranting on all year what a great weekend that was - had bands that played Kaiser Chiefs tracks and most up to date rock music, then a tribute band to Commitments. Well, luckily for us girls the 2nd band that night didn't turn up, so we had them all night - absolutely brilliant!! As I said, I've spoken to many friends about that weekend; even ones that don't ride bikes and they were most envious. Then the 2008 rally arrives - crap weather I know, but I hoped the music would top 2007 - well!! Two Deep Purple bands and heavy bands all weekend! I love Deep Purple like most people, but that was too much. Come on guys we are in the 21st century now -there is some fantastic new rock music out there and loads of tribute bands, plus with a bit of alternative this would have been a great mix, just like 2007. I know its not the best of jobs trying to get the right mix for everyone. I wouldn't want that job and the committee members have a big responsibility. But, we do have to remember we are trying to introduce young guys into the club, plus entertaining the rest of us 49+ young ones!! |

| Re: Oswestry 2008; your comments please. Just to update you - the committee meeting is tomorrow and obviously all the points raised will be taken on Board. Several options are going to be presented, so be warned - those that have offered their services may be approached sooner than you think!

| Re: Oswestry 2008; your comments please. One of the main things holding this rally back is a desparate lack of promotion & publicity Where was the advertising outside of the confines of the club magazine? The club put on an excellent stand at the festival of 1000 bikes, where were the A5 sized flyers promoting the international to hand out to the punters? |
