Nothing New!

Talk about nothing new!

How about this for your Crossbones from the '09 H-D catalogue!

A 1925 part!

Standard Leather Solo Saddle
First offered in 1925, this timeless solo saddle offers a
deep dish bucket shape and a firm leather covering. The
wide seating surface and the narrow seat nose provide a
surprisingly comfortable and supportive ride. Available as
a direct replacement for the Softail Cross Bones solo seat,
this Deluxe Leather Saddle re-uses the Original Equipment
springs and mounting hardware. Installation on other models
requires separate purchase of model-specific Seat Bracket
and Spring Kit.

52004-25
$199.95

Fits ’08-later FLSTSB, ’06-later FXST, FXSTB, FXSTC and
FXSTS models (except FXSTSSE/2/3) and ’86-’94 Softail
models. Requires separate purchases of model-specific

Mounting Hardware Kit P/N 51902-09 or 52225-89.

Re: Nothing New!

if only the fitting guide also stated: ''AND 1926-36 J'' (or whatever the models were!!)

what really shits me, as usual, is that the fine-print descrip here basically admits the stock seat is crap, so you have to pay $200 for the right bit of kit. BAH!

Re: Nothing New!

Doesn't look bad value at that price, on the surface; bet you a pound to a piece of shit it's nowhere near the quality of the older stuff though.

Those seats are very comfortable, trust me. The original ones were made to mould to the shape of your butt; took a bit longer than gel seats, but once again, nothing's new!

Re: Nothing New!

Well $200 is about £115 at the mo; wouldn't mind one meself at that price but I'll bet it's a wee bit more in the UK. Importing one would probably make it £200 with shipping and duty; oh well.
And Kev, do you remember the old method of making a holster fit the gun - soak it in water then put the (well-greased) pistol in it for a couple of days? If that's the way an old saddle gets to fit, ooh, me piles...
Cheers,
Pete.
