600-mile weekend....couple of pix...

Headed out of Melbourne on Friday for a H-D Aust forums' pub meet near the South Australian border. The weather was pretty poor....but the run was good...started by crossing the giant Westgate Bridge past downtown Melbourne....city skyline in the distance

and into rural Victoria, which is probably the greenest part of mainland Aussie and closest in appearance to the UK...

except when you want to find the lake at the destination township, and this is what you see....

Yep, it was once a giant natural lake. But no powerboating, jet skiing or swimming and no diving these days. It's been dry for about 8-9 years apparently....same as almost every other lake in rural Victoria. Some giant river systems are irreparably damaged by a decade of drought....

bit of history in the town of Edenhope for cricket fans.

there is a museum dedicated to this team in another town near by. We stopped there are a historic pub for a bit of sunbathing

nice bit of street furniture, 1950s Ford Customline V8, at a petrol station on the way home!

Trouble free-run.....apart from rear brake caliper seizing after 5 miles, so i knocked it off the disc, put the pads in my pocket and carried on for another 990km! Good bunch of people to meet for the first time, also.

LOL! I bought it with 18in apes on.....but i took them off. Got a bit bored with apes....there's a lot of ''bad-ass'' wannabes with brand new bikes and high apes out here. Plus there's a cop crackdown on clubs, and that look just brings unwanted hassle. I have fitted these style drag bars to the FXEF (currently in storage in the North East) also.....comfy, plus i like the muscular low lines...

Glad you had a great time dave and not to many flies. I'll agree with dave those bars are very comfy and on a boring point the ADR's(Australian Design Rules) state handlebars cannot exceed 380mm from point of attachment to the heighest point.
