Santander to Barcelona

Hi
I,m Sailing from Portsmouth to Santander then riding towards Barcelona.
I disembark late on at Santander and want to ride for a couple of hours (100 miles or so before getting my head down) can anyone let me know of campsites or B&b's on the way.
Cheers Kenny.

Re: Santander to Barcelona

Hi Kenny
I think you need to be a little more detailed with your intended route before anyone can answer your question.
Aye Charlie

Re: Santander to Barcelona

This is the one I use in Santa Cilia de Jaca near Huesca - campsite
It is off the N240 which is a very good road.

This is one I use in Burgos - campsite
Santander to Burgos on the N623 is one of the best roads in northern Spain.

Are you sure that you disembark late on at Santander ?....as normally it's early in the morning ?

As if it's in the morning you will do Barcelona in one hit,I have done it for the last 20 yrs, as it's only 335 miles or 539 kilometres

But if you are looking to hang it out and gradually ride there are campsites everywhere, but what is the route that you wish to ride.

Put your route up here

There is a new service this year from Portsmouth joining the one from Plymouth. It appears that Brittany Ferries is now alternating between an early morning arrival and a lunchtime arrival.

Lets hope it's better than the ship which plied its trade from Plymouth to Santander as that wasn't that good and you were always stuck right down in the bowels of the ship in the bows, then when it came time to get off you had lorries spilling diesel and belching out foul diesel fumes.

So you used to end up coughing your guts up whilst diesel skating and helping each other to hold your bike upright to just get the bikes to move out of the diesel

And all that after being forced to drink ale all night at exhorbitant prices

Ride safe and watch out for the grey boxes on the Spanish roads these days

Re: Santander to Barcelona

One other thing that I nearly forgot is that if when you get to Santander and you are having problems with your Harley give Miguel a ring he owns the local H-D shop.

I've personally known Miguel for many years and he has gone out or sent his van out at all sorts of hours to help broken down Harley riders, he is a rider 1st of all and a business 2nd but he is a really top man.

His business is about 5 mins out of Santander off the main drag to Bilbao on the right hand side in the Industrial park, his mobile number is +34647902439.

If you are there at a weekend he is always arranging ride outs and parties, come rain or shine.

I can highly recommend that campsite at Jaca too, but dont let Jag give you a drink when you leave its usually a double J.d no matter what time of day it is

Re: Santander to Barcelona

Don't think Kenny has much chance of getting to Barcelona If he can't find his way back to this post
