Technical Section

In order to improve the quality and relevance of advice given in the Technical Section, for a trial period, we are making (just) the tech section moderated.

Anyone can post as before, but only members and guests with a proven history of offering good advice will be able to respond unmoderated.

"Technical Harley-Davidson Related Queries. Serious discussion only, no chatter please!
Please use this technical section to post your requests for help or to share information and tips.
indicates that the person concerned is considered by us to be a particularly valuable source of information.
The HDRCGB and the website operators offer no guarantee as to the accuracy or suitabilty of any information presented here - please use your own judgement or if in doubt pay a professional"

If anyone would like to be added to the list, drop me a pm

Feedback welcome, but not kneejerk reaction. After about 3 weeks or so, we'll take a poll and if you're not happy with the new format it's back to the drawing board

Re: Technical Section

The thought of someone deciding whether my posts are up to the mark is gonna stop me posting, thats for sure.

Maybe you just need to get whoever is gonna moderate the posts to answer the Tech questions!

yes i am thinking along the same lines as Scotty.
i am not a mechanic but have years of experience sorting out my own problems and learning by my mistakes, it would be bad news to stop input to this section of are ,as this to me is the best part of the web site
as Scotty said IF SOMEONE IS MODERATING THEN HE CAN ANSWER THE TECH QUESTIONS, AS HE MUST KNOW IF THE ANSWER IS CORECT??

Re: Technical Section

The idea is to add more and more people as time goes on. It's not intended to be elitist, if you all read what I said anyone can pm me for the right to post unmoderated. I'm not planning to turn people down, I just want you to understand that there is a responsibility to reply within the limits of your knowledge. Which hopefully answers your query DJ.

There are no plans to stop people responding on the basis 'is the answer correct'. I see where you're coming from and I realise the danger. There is no concept to filter out answers that aren't 'liked' purely to allow individual reasonable opinions to flourish.

So far, and I know it's very early days, not single post has been rejected. If it's not accepted, you can vote on it in 3 or 4 weeks - members and non-members.

As long as a minute as long as one of us are on line but we ain't 24/7...

Scotty the thing is it will stop questions about "What Oil Should I use" and other questions like that because we the mods will not approve the bloody questions yet again and again and we will refer them to the MANY threads by pm to previous threads.

As Rog says it is a new experiment and if it works all well and good. If it don't then we think of something else.

Plus it will stop the arguing and back stabbing that has occurred on some tech threads....we hope!

You forget, Rog, that Colin's still a Coaster at heart; surely the crossed eating irons will suffice?
