Re: 2010 Bikes

The Superglide don't look bad, although nowhere near as nice as me old '99 Superglide Sport - good job I'm skint eh?

The Wide Glide's nowt like as nice as the old Athena poster of a Shovelhead WG that I had on my wall from the age of 10 to about 25. The seat and side panels on the new one remind me too much of a bleedin' Virago!

Still quite like the Street Bob, but even if I could afford a new one I'd probably stick with Shifty's Slightly Skanky Superglide Sport - still love that old bus and doubt I'll ever part with it to be honest.

Probably, yes. They've got used to the fact that so many people will now buy new Harleys (and the perceived lifestyle) no matter what they're like, that I really don't think they're putting much effort in from one year to the next.

Noted work on 5th gear. Must have had a lot of complaints.

Now helical cut 5th gear. But why were they allowed to get away with that noisy straight cut gear in the first place? the bike I took out for a few hours was terrible as far as gearbox noise in two gears but have heard that they were not all that bad.

I hadn’t looked at the bike that close originally and just noticed the return of the name, so fair comment. Still think it will sell though on price alone compared to the others? And there’s always going to be the shiny bits catalogue to keep people happy?

Seems the Softails have taken the hit this year, not only with the loss of the Standard but the Nightrain’s gone as well, which IMO is a real shame. Less choice this year overall.

They didn`t want to make something that (apart from the frame) would be identical to the Softail Custom.

I quite like it.

Oh, & my first Harley was a 1980 FXWG. Great Bike, loved it.

Re: 2010 Bikes

I'll reserve judgement until I see it in the flesh but my initial reaction to the Fat Boy Special is disbelief. They go so far to produce something interesting out the factory door but they never go far enough.
Its te back end on the FBS, those pipes are Fugly and they should have done better with the seat and rear fender.

Just like they did with the Xbones, didn't go far enough with the seat and fender.

Its interesting to read the US response to the new bikes. If they'd have 103"'d the entire range and put out a Dark Custom Street Glide or Road King, Harley US could well have seen a flurry of new sales, there are people out there with money in the bank looking for a reason to upgrade their 2-4 year old bikes, this year doesn't seem to have done it.

I'd love to have the certainty to know where I'll be next year to consider buying a second bike, but there'd be nothing on the 2010 showroom to entice me.
