do's and don'ts of selling a bike

Hi.
I will very soon be selling my Street Bob, has anyone any advice on selling such as whats acceptable in way of how the buyer pays and test rides, what should you get from them as a safegard so that you don't see your bike roaring off never to be seen again, my bikes only single seat.
any advice much appreciated.

Thanks, really worried now!
I tried the search first but did not get any thing, must be asking the wrong questions, I find search very hit and miss, but thanks again for the links, eventhough they were mostly bad news, why does everything have to be spoilt by scumbags.

Get it on ebay quick.

There are still plenty of buyers around, but that will diminish as the summer draws to an end.

Expect contact from European buyers, they will ask you for a price, if agreed they paypal you a deposit and then cash on collection. 2 bikes have gone from me this year like that.

Get a price in your head that you know its worth, not the price in your heart that you believe it's worth.

NO test rides without CASH

DO NOT invite viewing at the address where the bike is kept.

I'm not sure I'd even let them test ride it at all, if they have an accident and it's dreamed there fault, most insurance policies only cover for third party when riding somebody else's bike,- so as your still the owner the insurance company won't pay out at all.

From ebay:

eBay UK: Safety Centre: Selling Safely

Safe Buying Tips for Vehicles

NEVER pay for a vehicle by instant cash transfer, such as Western Union or Moneygram.
ALWAYS check the My Messages section in your My eBay page to confirm any emails from us requesting account information.
GET a 150-point vehicle inspection from SGS - starting at just $99.50.
BEWARE of fraudsters who send fake email messages claiming to represent or offer escrow services as part of eBay's Vehicle Purchase Protection program.

Be safe - get all the tips

FWIW - when I brought my Sporty the dude did not allow a test drive. He did say that if there was a problem while riding the bike home AFTER I had brought and paid for the bike, I could have my money back.

I felt this was fair enough.

If you sell it on ebay, you'll lose a lot in seller's fees.
