Re: European Breakdown Cover

Both Footman James and Carol Nash do European breakdown cover for free with bike insurance or you can have it as a stand alone. Worth checking your policy.

Re: European Breakdown Cover

As Schoe000 says, but if thats not an option with your insurance what about MAG. Joining MAG and then getting their breakdown cover was cheaper for me than going with the AA.

Re: European Breakdown Cover

Sam I have moved you to this (Virtual Rally) section as a general question to all site users will/would get a larger response rather than just your region.

Plus you asked this before in January, and had replies here: http://www.harley-davidson-hangout.c...ery-cover.html

Also our search engine covers this with many questions asked in the past.

Re: European Breakdown Cover

I've paid for breakdown and personal insurance cover with my Eurotunnel booking for the same price as I was quoted for just breakdown cover by the AA.

Re: European Breakdown Cover

Hi Sammie
Lots of people on the site praise the Caroline Nash cover, but I bought 10 days AA European cover for Spain online in May for about Ł46. When after about 600 miles the Hog decided to become a mule and not take us further, the AA were contactable on the mobile phone and promptly arranged-

Vehicle rescue twice to the appropriate location, hotel for 1 night, taxi to and from car hire place, car hire for 5 days or so in Spain, changed our ferry tickets in advance (no bike to take home), car hire back in UK and arranged for Avis to collect the hire car from our house the next day. Hog came back in a closed vehicle with set of photos to show paint and body condition when strapped into the vehicle. Then WE got a cheque for Ł51 from THEM for expenses we’d paid for not knowing they stump up for it.

Most important they were very re assuring that the Hog and accessories were locked up safe and not getting stripped bare in the rain at some car park in the docks so were able to relax. Sorry to blab on but they were A1. Get it on line, it’s cheaper than by phone.

Re: European Breakdown Cover

crumboy that's a good experience with the AA in Europe or whoever they used over there, but I also used to be with them and didn't like the flat bed truck designed for cars that I had to get the bike onto!

I think you were lucky with a local firm they called out as I am sure the AA will not leave the UK to collect you. You could of also had a crap time with another firm that the AA may use? Just a possibility.

With Carole Nash they send out in this country a specialist motorcycle breakdown service, normally the guy will be a biker and experienced wrench, so you take your chances. And the UK is where I do most of my 10k a year on the RK.

Cool Re: European Breakdown Cover

Had the misfortune to break down in France this summer, rang my insurer, (vehicle rescue direct) who told me, that as it was on a motorway, to dial 17 for the police - who look after all breakdowns on French motorways - which I did.

Four times I got through, and each time they didn't want to attempt to speak English, or work out what I was trying to say in schoolboy French! The cheese eating surender monkey cops just hung up!!!

Had to get a bi-lingual frog to help in the end, so all worked out well, but thank goodness it wasn't somewhere like Bosnia! A phrase book would probably be very worthwhile.

Re: European Breakdown Cover

As Battersea says, joining MAG and using their breakdown cover will get you a whole twelve months cover at a very reasonable price and you'll be doing something to protect your rights .
