Cool Re: Old Classic

There was a time when small numbers of bikes were repainted the same colour throughout. Hardly a fashion, but Velocettes and Vincents were amongst the bikes that got the treatment. May just be an early personalised bike that has been kept that way.

Exactly. FYI the "Black" of the "Black Shadow" refers to the engine not the rest of the bike; ordinary Rapides had unpainted engines IIRC.

Just 'cos it's named after you Vincent don't mean you can diss it!

Re: Old Classic

I know nothing about classic bikes (except Lambrettas) but that swing arm arrangement that old Vincents use looks suspiciously like the H-D softail setup all be it upside down.

BTW there's a picture of one (Vincent Rapide?) on Wikipedia that appears to be the same colour. Vincent Motorcycles - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Re: Old Classic

It was certainly a talking point at Centrum. If anyone spoke about the bikes on site, the Vincent was always mentioned first.
