At 12 grand Euros it costs as much as a Harley! I wonder how the Yanks who believe loud pipes save lives will get on with it? A pal of mine was part of the team that developed the Manx electric TT racer this year. It will be interesting to see how the bikes for that race develop.

Price would have to come down a long, long way but I'd consider it as a commuter. 6 miles each way to work, extension lead out the office window - free fuel - now there's an incentive

This article goes on a bit, but analyses the consequences of introducing lots of electric vehicles. Puts into perspective the likely problems.

There is a real alternative to electric bikes, may never catch on though, the idea is a bit novel. Range - about 20 miles extendable to 50 in emergency. Fuel - multi fuel chemical/organic system. Recharge time - about 8 hours, variable Exhaust output - minimal but variable dependent on fuel input. Cost - from £200 initial outlay, may be tax deductable. Maintenance - £75 per year. Road Tax - Zero Rated Other savings - £720 gym membership saved per year. £1000 petrol saved pear year so more to spend on the Harley. For further info, google 'cycle to work scheme' I'm sure at some point in the future that electric bikes will be a viable proposition. |

Cute, but a range of 42 miles isn't much of a vote winner.
