Re: West Country (South) Bash '08

Lets take a vote, in degrees of complexity to organise:

1) RIdeout only.
2) Rideout plus show.
3) Rideout, show, plus campover.
4) Forget the whole thing.

In your pledge, please suggest any good places for options 1..3.

Cheers, Roy

Personally I favour a campover, not so fussed about a show or rideout. Most rallies I've been to folk are keen to get away earlyish the morning after, feeling a bit grim. So my vote goes for a piss up in a field somewhere, crash out in the tent, maybe a bit of brekkie the next day and then away!

recon it be better to all have a chat about this party before we announce it on the web page.

Perhaps over the next three weeks we can have a proper get together have a chat then have a word with the powers that be to ensure all is in order.

How about a pub weekend, don't know how far away Pewsey is, but this sort of place looks interesting, near a canal, camping not expensive, reckon if you talked to em nicely you could take the whole camping area for the weekend. They do food, so i'm sure they'ed probably do breakfasts as well at a push. Biker friendly, cheap camping, looks like they may have done rallies before . At £4 per person per night camping charge = £8... charge £12 for the weekend and stick on some entertainment.

Main Page - The Barge Inn @ Honeystreet

Many pubs have biggish gardens or a field, established small campsites will have toilets and showers.

Nobody makes big money out of a rally....if you cover your costs you should be happy.

Re: West Country (South) Bash '08

aahhh... Mike, you've discovered The Barge......a brilliant pub mate. If ever you travel this way it's well worth a visit.

Local's are a bit wacko, they got a thing about crop circle's. Seem's they get pi***d up on the pub's local brew and at closing time dissappear up the lane's carrying large lump's of timber!!!!!...Next morning villager's gawp in awe from their bedroom window's at the strange pattern's in the farmer's field's

Once word get out it's great for generating tourist revenue...Local farmer's can "charge" gullable townie's to be allowed in their field's to view the crop circle's....villager's get interviewed on local T.V. ....the vicer get's invited to bless the circle's and The Barge can even sell you the T-Shirt....

It's well worth a visit to join in the fun and sink a few crackin beer's even if it does get very busy on a summer's evening.

By the way Mike ............I've been advised the timber want's to be approx 1/2" X 6" X 36" and ALLWAY'S walk in a anti-clockwise direction working from inside to out. (you'll make a fortune mate)

A cracking good idea from BNM. I reckon that's the way we should go. Everything we need is there, camping, beer, showers, toilets, beer, food, beer. I havn't drunk there for several years, but I do remember it as a really nice boozer.

Making it a new years res to come along and meet you all. 2007 has been a bananas year (in many good ways, including getting my 1st HD). 2008 is about meeting (as well as belonging to..) the HDRC and attending a couple of runs (May super rally and bulldog).

The summer bash idea sounds like a really good one, especially with the Barge and all facilities laid on. Do you think a sunday run is a good idea?
