Great photos!!

I have just one job to do (a Victorian roof to renovate in Manchester about 5 weeks work "max") then I’m off to Naples for 6/7 weeks my bike is primed up and ready to go, can’t wait!!

You stopped in Strasburg so I assume you travelled through Switzerland, What did you think? how much was the road tax?

I suppose you planning your next trip already?

Hoping not to jump the gun here, but I assumed and the the way I have been, is they went through the Black Forest via the RN500 then along the north shore of Konstanz to Lindau then from there on into Austria without going into Switzerland.

Re The Swiss motorway network, well it's quite picturesque and not too boring on a bike.
It's mainly two lane, has few long stretches and quite a few sweeping bends.
Generally it is not too busy other than around the major cities.
There are plenty of service areas which are good, take any currency you like and also have dedicated bike parking areas.
This year the Swiss motorway tax disc {vignette} is 40CHF and available at the border or at most filling stations before you get to the border.
If you do not use the motorways you do not have to get a disc.

We have used the Swiss motorway via the St Gotthard crossing to go to the Italian lakes a few times as it is quicker and often works out cheaper than some of the alternative routes.
The St Gotthard pass & tunnel are both free, the pass is well surfaced and not to challenging or busy but the tunnel is horrendous on a bike, two way traffic and ten miles long, not recommended unless really necessary. I've done it twice on a bike.

Here some links that might be useful.

"www.AlpineRoads.com - The Best Biking Roads In The Alps"

Vacation, Travel, Meetings - Switzerland Tourism

You also need a Tax disc to use the Austrian Motorway and Express routes too, but they are available for shorter periods and cost less for a bike.
Austrian Vignette

As you use sat Nav this might be of help too.

Kept out of Switzerland ........as SJC69 rightly assumed we came out

of Strasburg and made our way through the stunningly beautiful Black Forest

across to the north of Lake Konstanz down to Lindua .

On the return from Aosta we avoided Switzerland by heading to Dijon via

Annecy ...glad we did, cause Annecy and it's Lake has been put on the list of

place's i must hopefuly return...one day!!!!

Jonathan...................washed the bike 3 time's and it's still gunged

up !!!

Ukkid76....................have a great time on your trip ...will look forward to

you posting up your photo's on your return....good luck mate and enjoy every moment !!!
