You have your opinion, I have mine, he had delusions of grandeur and as far as I am concerned, ruined what was one of the best rallies on the HOG Circuit, the Cider Rally when it moved from St Audries Bay to a run down Holiday camp in Torquay and we had to pay for Bed and Breakfast, the next year it got even worse, having to pay for Half Board, at a Bike rally FFS. At least at the old site you could camp if wanted or only pay for accomodation. Needless to say that was the last time I went anywhere near HOG.

HOG was a very good idea that probably saved the company in the bad old AMF days, and enabled guys like me to own a Harley in the 21st century. Many HOG members (like us) will drift towards the Riders Club because it represents a far more basic roots level of HD enthusiasm and ownership. I for one love engaging with those of you who have such a wealth of knowledge about Harleys old and new. Not just that, you guys know how to party big time.

Some HOG members will wave or nod as we ride past, some don't, some back patch riders acknowledge us and some don't, many sport bike riders will nod back (in their way) and some on scooters and mopeds are so shocked that some guy on a F*ck off gorgeous Harley just acknowledged them, that its to late to reply before we have roared past.

Bikers all, are a great breed, not least because we are all just one tiny mistake from instant death at any time, but also because mostly other bikers are friendly and aimiable, and make you feel you belong to something very worthwhile and inherently good.
To all of you; read the above before you start taking this thread down its (sadly predictable) course.

Thank you.

Re: Hoggies

[I was a HOG member for a few years but not any more, but some of my best mates were also members and they were some of the good guys.
Don't forget that not all HDRCGB members are always the good guys. There are good and bad in any club.[/quote]
This is what I said earlier, I've not got a down on HOG Riders as a whole, just certain members.

Blimey ! I only posted this cause I thought the original incident was amusing and somewhat ridiculous. Some 35 / 40 people all doing their best not to see us from 20 foot away. I wasn't expecting world war 3 and the end of civilisation as we know it

Re: Hoggies

A few months ago i was on the way home from Riders of Bridgwater...and on the dual carriageway on the way out of Bridgwater towards Highbridge i was on the outside lane approaching the rear end of about 15 HOG bikes who were on the inside lane...and instead of overtaking them on my 1800cc steed i decided to just follow behind. However...two bold gezzers in an old car were obviously not too happy that i had dropped in behind the convoy and they basically overtook me and pulled back in right on my nose behind the bikes...they were bikers themselves by the look of it and obviously knew the HOG bikers...but it was a bit stupid to do what they did imho. Anyway...they all turned off towards the motorway at the end of the dual carriageway...but it didn't give me a very good impression of HOG at-all.

I am a HOG member as i got it 'free' with my bike purchase...but i havn't bothered to join the local chapter.

I saw that in France once! At a motorway service area. Half a dozen Harleys parked up, stereo going full blast and they were all line dancing.................. well, if it floats ya boat...............
