Engine Works Suggestions

Time has come to turn my 883 into a 1200/1250.

Can anyone suggest someone in the West Country who is good for engine work, certainly a bore maybe some valve work? I'm in Burnham so nearer the better!

Many thanks,
Richard

Cheers for that, they were one of the companies on the list. At £43 it is the most 'expensive' club I have come across (talking cost not value) and I fear I am just not sociable enough to get the best out of it.

Most expensive!

15 Months Full Membership is a snip at £43.75(UK) and runs from:
01/10/2009 - 31/12/2010

That's only 9.5 pence a day!

If you were to spend a few hundred on your bike the 10% saving would nearly pay for it. Plus you would be supporting this website which can be invaluable, plus other benefits.

Re: Engine Works Suggestions

Supply pistons and rebore cylinders for a 1200 conversion is in the region of £400 at most shops in the UK (not advertising just illustrating).

Being a member and using a business that gives a club discount would save a nice round £40. Looking at it another way in this instance the business is paying nearly all your first years membership - that's got to be a deal!

That's a no brainer and given that there are lots of variants of parts which will not be suitable for your bike conversion (I am speaking from experience) use someone such as the above and be safe.

Mr.M look at this old thread (26-05-2007) and some of the prices mentioned then!

Bloody heck Richard you have been on the site for 3 years and all your posts have been on the techy theme and still we are not worthy of you to join us!

Re: Engine Works Suggestions

Please don't get me wrong - I meant that my level of commitment to the club would not be good enough not that you wern't good enough!! I have tried to get an area of a bike club going myself in the past so know what it is like to be the only one turning up at the pub or leading a ride out for two. As Chippenham is a 2 hour cross country ride I know I would not do that after a day at work so would be one of the unseen members that used to wind me up in the same situation. That's what I meant by not being sociable.

As to the engine works info, thanks for that and I will be making a call when someone returns from holiday!

Rich.

Re: Engine Works Suggestions

I am sure there are a few members near you Mr M that get together occasionally, moreover the club magazine (harleyquin) would keep you in touch with events and Rallies etc, plus loads more.

There is a lot more to the club than meeting once a month or so at a pub.

I am sure Phil will do you a top job.
