Re: Big D's to close ?

Spoke to Darren last week at Ian Towlers funeral.

He's gutted, but the place was haemorraging money like there's no tomorrow. Don't think it was anything to do with the much publicised recession, it's just that you have to sell a shit load of coffee to keep a place like that going.

Re: Big D's to close ?

And it won't be the last.

Heard recently that even the Masonic Lodge in Inverness can't make enough money to cover the rates etc. etc. and it is closing next month.

Problem is - and this applies to all of us - we like to go places - but we don't go often enough to keep them going. Example - good sandwich shop opened just round the corner from the office - used to "treat myself" once a week. It went bust and now I miss it - and yet I'm as much to blame as anyone for not giving it more patronage.

One thing though - I'd hate to be in a business that relies on Joe Public for its custom, coz it's so unpredictable.

So - note to self - make a note of all the good "stops" we visit on runs, and be sure not to miss any out this riding season - better still - organise runs to visit as many of our usual haunts as possible on the same day.

Cheers - HogHog
