Leather Alterations

Does anyone know where in the York area I can get a pair of leather bike jeans shortened?

Re: Leather Alterations

I bought a pair last year, About 3" too long. Shortened them myself with a Stanley knife. Use some chalk to mark them for length while sitting on the bike. Lay them on a piece of wood and use a new blade in Stanley knife with a straight edge to make a straight cut. I "sealed" the cut end with some black shoe polish.

Re: Leather Alterations

That's the best way to do it but best still is wear them for a while so the creases get behind the knees 'cause that shortens them anyway then when you feel they will not shorten themselves any more just chop 'em off.

Now that's good Yorkshire (money saving) advice...

Ian,

Pop into Infinity in Walmgate or give them a ring, I'm sure they use somebody near the shop.

Cheers,

Andy

Agree with Bazza. Wear them for a month or two until youre damn sure of the length - they may shrink a bit too if they ever get wet.

Dont forget you want them to be the correct length when youre sat on the Harley - not halfway up your shins.

I would think Cox's in the Shambles will do it, so will the shoemaker in Buttercrambe just before the mill (the little estate of workshops on the right hand side, opposite the farm shop/nursery. His business is called Roosters.

Re: Leather Alterations

I have two pairs of leather jeans, one with bottom cut edge and one stitched and hemmed and I have to say the cut ones do hang better.
I would never get another pair stitched.

I was once stitched up and I've never forgotten it!

I tended to hang better before that point!
