I miss the ride outs I had with you guys there in Gods own country.

Going for a spin in London does not compare at all, and even when you get to the countryside after close on an hour it is still pretty shite

Just cos a region doesn't post on the site doesn't mean it doesn't do much. I heard only a third of members log on.

An even if taking an hour to get out of London is an exageration, once you do get beyond the M25 there's very little countryside close by to compare with Yorkshire.

Even as a Suffolk-o-phile I havta agree with the OP that there's precious few open spaces to ride through close to the Smoke.

Well there are, but they're mostly either building sites or mudflats!

There are parts of Hertfordshire which are very nice indeed (lived in Stevenage for a year so I know the area quite well) but the one thing you can never get away from is the constant hum of traffic (and open sewers but that's a different kind of hum ) in the background.

Oh, sorry Baz, I thought with your wealth of forum experience you'd know that OP = Original Poster (I hope that's enough smilies for you + ).

The number of peeps I spoke to this weekend who never go online, let alone on the site, yet still got out to Talgarth and who were doing more rallies this year means my experience is contrary to yours. Of course, I haven't got as much experience as you (cos I'm young and new here ), but that doesn't make my post less valid.

And yup, it's bloody flat out this way, that's one reason why I'm heading further into deepest Suffolk this year, to see more hills.
