New fella alert

Hi fellas, just thought I'd make myself known here, I've already posted on the newbies section.

I bought my first ever H.D about 2 weeks ago, a Black 2002 but 2004 registered Dyna Low Glide with a mere 54 miles on the clock (long story).

After years on sport / touring bikes it was a bit of a shock at first to climb aboard such a heavy bike which has no apparent brakes and all the handling rigidity of a bungie chord!

A nice full days ride around the Yorkshire Dales though soon taught me how to ride a Harley to get the best out it and we've bonded now. I'm loving this new way of biking. Now't to prove, just keep a nice relaxed steady pace and forget the heriocs - fabulous, I'm hooked! My previous bike was 2007 Honda VFR800 V.Tec, with Honda's linked brake system and ABS so there is a world of difference here.

It was bit of a forced change, due to a few health problems in the old age which makes it necessary for me to have a lower seat height bike. As I'd always fancied an HD it seemd the right way to go - now I wish I'd done it ages ago!

Like I said in my newby post, I've taken some stick off my mates (It's wearing a bit thin now - getting bored with the "Tractor and Tassel jibes) but one of them rode it last week and he genuinely liked it - even popped into his house to drag his young lad out and took him for a spin! The young fella liked it too!

Well that's me: we have a wee website here with some of our past roadtrips etc documented for posterity for anyone who fancies a look
index

Cheers to each
Dave

Welcome Dave, glad you are enjoying the HD. Can't agree more about - if this is a mid-life crisis I wish I'd had it much sooner. Nicky

More of a late life crisis for me SG - I'm the product of pre- V days when our folks had to make their own entertainment...........the "baby boomer years"

Re: New fella alert

Hello Dave and Welcome,
Its been two years since I swapped from a sports tourer to a HD. I have enjoyed biking more in these last two years than in the previous 10 years or so of 'normal' bikes. My mates still take the piss, and one have even threatened to kill me if I buy a waistcoat and start putting badges on it. However I got him to go to 2 club rallies this year and he loved it so patches here we go.

Hope you enjoy the club and get involved.

Paul

Welcome from Lancashire. To get the best out of your Harley ride it a lot through the Dales and the Bowland area. Harley's get sweeter the more miles they have covered.

Actually, Tony I'm from Lancs (Wigan - but born and bred Scouser) - just do a lot of riding in Yorks! I put the original post on this thread somewhere else and it was moved to here. Hey, Lancs / Yorks it makes no difference - still the best counties in the UK!

Thanks to everyone for the nice welcomes

Dave
