Front and rear wheels on and ready for the engine. The engine needs to be grounded to the frame. The recently painted frame needs grinding back to bare metal on the engine mounts.

This does not feel right after having it painted.

    Re: 45 Rebuild

The bike had already built and test ridden so putting it back together was pretty straight forward. I am a bit of traditionalist when it comes to 6 volt electrics, 32e generator etc.

But there is one upgrade that I am a fan of.

This is the points, I would not go as far as electronic ignition, not saying it's wrong but not for me.

The standard points are a little flimsy and sit on the centre post of the circuit breaker plate.

The upgraded points are more robust, made by Bosch and from a Volkswagen.

The Bosch Points do not fit straight on, but do need a conversion kit. This can be bought from W&W. But does seem expensive for what it is. I made my own.

The points just needed the cable extended and wrapped in heat shrink. as the earlier pic.

The only bit that needs to be made is the mounting plate

Once the plate is made, drill out the centre post on the timer and fit the plate in the two holes for the old points.

Pic of new points fitted. When you adjust the points you will feel how much more stronger they feel. Its a good cheap conversion.
