    They are unaccountable arseholes - I recall some years ago when the Reverend Chrome took his FLH to USA for a wonderful touring holiday he had arranged for the crate to be kept for the return, being the type he thoroughly cleaned his bike before re-crating and customs at Heathrow held it as an attempted grey import. He had to stay with me a couple of days while proving its previous existence over here while they still charged fees to hold it. Apparently others have bought classic HDs in USA at bargain prices only to have customs make their own valuation - often based on quotes from Warrs who tend to be the most expensive. Little room to argue with them.

    Parcelforce etc can charge between £8 and £13 for collecting duty.It was outsourced to them,and as a further cost cutting measure,you pay them to do it,instead of HMC paying them.
