...and I too hope to soon be loving my own M8; I’m not knocking them at all, far from it. I’ve waited long enough for one (still waiting). The M8 is probably the best the MoCo has made.

I just don’t want the hassle caused by a problem which really should have been fixed by now. They know what’s causing the problem so should get their arses in gear and fix it. It’s not our problem it’s theirs.

You may be ok with oil leaking from your engine to the gearbox, that’s up to you and I respect your decision, but I just know I can’t be returning constantly to the dealers; I just don’t handle confrontation well, it really won’t end good and I don’t even want to go there. For a peaceful life I’d rather wait until it’s fixed.

I wouldn't be OK with that - but I'd be even less OK with a seized crank ...

This is the first I’ve heard of loose piston oiler jets, is this another problem?

Yes - they are notorious for wet sumping and it seems that this could be the reason why. I first I heard of it through one of T-Man's video clips ...

Re: M8 oil migration from transmission to primary

Fingers crossed and all that, i've had enough of it all, having to keep checking my transmission oil before and after every ride, and topping up, so i bit the bullet and ordered the 'Pushrod' from 'Macomb County Choppers', had it fitted on Saturday, and so far NO OIL MIGRATION, H-D can keep there fix, was also made aware that the plastic vent fix could possibly, due to the open end let moisture or debris in to the primary which could possibly cause future problems !!

i was at Preston HD last week they can only order 6 plastic vent pipes at a time or Harley cancels the order Mmmm and its not on your warranty so its to pay for but I have heard it is a fix, also I aint suffering this dreaded curse well so far I aint and I think maybe its because most of my miles have been on long trips not around town with loads of clutch work just a thought

M8 oil migration from transmission to primary

A couple of weeks ago I was at Preston HD. Whilst speaking with Tom I expressed my concerns about new M8 bikes with hydraulic clutch still having problems. He said they’re fully aware of the oil migration issue, but not every bike is affected. They keep the repair kits in stock and affected bikes will be repaired under warranty. I also asked about wet sumping, he said they’re not aware of any cases at all.

I don’t like the sound of what Andy said though about the possible ingress of moisture and debris. If it’s not one thing, it’s another.

Anyone know when the new 2020 models hit the showroom floor? I keep hoping all issues will be fixed by then.
