This is 2016. Not pretty but it was done by students to test the technology over about 23,000 km

Can't help thinking about how many of my breakdowns (car and bike) are electrics based - even when my combustion engine died it was usually something electric that made it die.
(now I'm thinking about the Wright Flyers first "carburettor" which was a small burner that heated fuel to make vapour that the engine compressed...)

    Re: HD Electric bike

I want to cut to the chase.
    Key Facts:-

Harley Davidson market share is tanking in the US

It has decided to abandon retro look bikes

    Its share value is plummeting

Its production volumes are dropping to 2001 levels in spite of building bikes in India for their domestic market

Sales of its budget "street" bikes have not materialised in any great numbers

Livewire is a publicity stunt. The will sell a handful at best

The EV program only exists to try and stop investors from dumping stocks. That's why the extremely half-arsed announcement was made when the Q2 results were announced. Coincidentally Livewire gets dusted off again for Q3 results. They have milked this one to death since its 10 second slot in the Avengers franchise movie and still won't commit to any indication of pricing.

IMHO, Harley in its present form will last about another 4-5 years. Then will go bust or be bought out as a premium brand bought an Asian company ( same as MG Rover, Jaguar Land Rover, Volvo etc)

At that rate Phil I propose that the Club puts in a bid. We could get it for a quid.

My money is on Royal Enfield if there was a takeover. Last year they sold more bikes than Harley-Davidson, KTM, BMW, Triumph, and Ducati put together.

And the reason is they offer a decent bike at a decent price.
The cost of a new harley, with all its problems, is a joke.
No way are they valur for money.

And then throw in computers that continually crash or freeze and Bob's yer uncle - I just want to ride a proper bike, not a sewing machine!
