    Re: Driving licence

If you have a photo card licence, you can renew on line.
    Takes about 10 mins, max.
You dont have to send your old one off till the new one comes.
    No worries about missing entitlements.
That was when they were going from paper to photo card.

    Re: Driving licence

I went from paper to card via the Post Office. I mentioned the "loss" of bike entitlement & was worried it might happen. He went to great lengths to assure me that all would be OK & luckily it was. Sometimes it's better to deal with a person as opposed to a faceless website.

    Re: Driving licence

I've been putting off changing from paper to card due to this loss of bike threat, I don't see how I could afford to do the test again (let alone the huge resentment of being made to do it) and what happens then with your insurance? do you become a new novice rider? (when asked how long you have held a full licence - make a claim and say your true date then get refused for false declaration?)

If you know anyone of repute, like a Justice of the Peace or a good solicitor who could legally vouch for you, it might be worthwhile talking to them. OR change your name to Phillip, then you can get away with any feckin' thing!

    Re: Driving licence

    The fix is simple.

Apply for a new licence because you have "lost" your old one. It costs you no more and you then have the original document should there be a cockup over your entitlements. Once the new one arrives, either "find" your old one or destroy it. DO NOT be tempted to hang on to it in case you get points in the future and want to kid somebody that your licence is clean. That's fraud and you will get severely shit on if you get nicked.

it should be pointed out that there are potential issues if you have the old paper licence and have moved house since it was issued. It's an offence to fail to notify and you could cop a fine of up to £1,000 if you are either stopped by the police or have an accident and they find out your address doesn't match.

Your call of course but don't complain if you get nicked and end up out of pocket.
    Much less involved.....

Anyone else renewed recently, and got one like this?
It's passports that change as a result of Brexit, going back to the original blue.
