    Re: evo oil filter

I normally get S&S ones from Matt's. The filter medium is different for Evo's and TC's and S&S have different Pt No's for the two bikes.

I'm a member of an Evo Facebook group and someone on there in the US bought a cheep filter. He took the bike out after the oil change and found out very quickly that the engine was red hot while the filter was cool, not good. Must have been wet sumping like mad

    Re: evo oil filter

I ran one of the HD TC filters on my Evo for a year fairly shortly after the TC came out. At the time Harley Dealers were insisting that the new TC filter was exactly the same as the discontinued Evo one. I didn't have any problems but there were many stories of Evos wet sumping because of oil backing up behind the filter.

Correct, but unfortunately the oil filter fitment is interchangeable between TCs and Evos, hence...

It's such a shame when duff information gets spread, whatever the source, as it can lead to expensive failures. When the very first TCs launched, at the back end of 1998, I remember the superior 5 micron filtration was talked about as part of the engine spec. I also recall it being announced that the TC filter was not suitable for Evos.

    Amazon evo oil filter

I got one from Amazon with the revtech oil, the filter is about half the length.
I won't be fitting it. Have ordered HiFlo from wemoto.
Used them before and wemoto usually sell good stuff.
