    A newby heading to Kelso...

    Hi,

Having joined the recent Rob's ride, courtesy of Piotr's kind invitation, I have finally got round to joining properly and have booked to go to Kelso, so who else is going?

I am hoping to ride the Bomber which, as a hardtail can be a bit....

Elizabeth, my wife will be riding her Sporty, so a gentle ride from our start point near Easingwold, avoiding dual carriageways is planned for the Thursday.

Hope to both get to May 7th meet but just in case I thought I'd flag this.

Looking forward to meeting up again.

    Alastair

Re: A newby heading to Kelso...

    Hello Alistair
Welcome to the club and the Yorkshire region. Glad you joined us for Robs run and enjoyed your day. The route to Kelso I use is up the A68, 144 miles from Whitby taking just over 3hours.
Keep an on here and our facebook page,We shall be talking about it at our meetings and Im sure there will be people meeting up in groups for the journey.

Regarding numbers ? I am confident there will be a large contingent from our region and others. Region 2 will put on a great show and they will be well supported.

Hope to see you on the 7th for our next meeting.

    Regards
    Glenn

Cool Re: A newby heading to Kelso...

Our intended route so far - minimal dual carriageways - hopefully a pleasant rumble northwards. May be taking it at a modest pace too, with ample coffee and pee stops. Happy to be joined by like-paced persons or just waved at as you blast past. Not sure of start time - probably just when we're packed but could co-ordinate if we can get organised.

A19 North to Thirsk Into and through town centre and head out north towards Northallerton
    A1448 to Northallerton.
A168 Left at junction continuing to Northallerton. Straight through Northallerton to A167
A167 North towards Darlington. Through the Smeatons, Dalton on Tees and Croft on Tees
    Cross A66
A67 Carmel Road South to roundabout and then straight ahead onto
B6280 Carmel Road North to roundabout and take right towards centre of Darlington. Big roundabout first left onto
A68 and follow this north. Short stretch of dual carriageway before and after crossing A1(M)
A68 north continues to big roundabout and then forks off first left. Through between The Auklands (West and St Helen), High Etherley, Toft Hill, Witton le Wear, Fir Tree, Tow Law, Rowley, Castleside, Kiln Pit Hill, near Broomhaugh and Riding Mill. Come to big roundabout on A69. Take left onto a bit of the A69.
A69 dual carriageway (running north of Corbridge) and at next intersection take slip road and re-join A68.
A68 north on a lot of straight roadsto Ridsdale and then West Woodburn, Elishaw, Rochester, Redesdale Camp, Byrness Village, past Catcleugh Reservoir on left. Past Camptown, Hundalee, to Jedburgh.
    Continue through Jedburgh on A68.
A68 to Bonjedwardwhere you turn off right on to
A698 through Crailing, Heiton, and into Maxwellheugh.
In Maxwellheugh continue on A 698 to roundabout and take first left on to
B6352 Show ground likely to be signposted by now. Fork left onto A 699 and you should be there or therabouts.

    See you there
    Alastair
