My very first crush passed away today.
Hard to find the right words. This wonderful Lady. Her original clarion (adj.) singing style always caught and held my attention and affections.
But, more than that, it was a particular song she recorded that has been, and is yet, my 'go-to' pic-me-up when life, at times, seems draggy or blue.
Recorded in 1953; and, as that was the year I was born, I claimed it as my very special own song. A deeply personal touchstone; always there, on call, and never failing to lighten my heart.

I first heard this at age 4. Mum quickly got tired of hearing me massacre the thing and so taught me the proper words. I've since taught it to a dozen? kids, young and old alike, along the way.
Good-by Ms. Day, and God Bless.
