Good-by Ms Day, and Thanks for the Help

My very first crush passed away today.
Hard to find the right words. This wonderful Lady. Her original clarion (adj.) singing style always caught and held my attention and affections.
But, more than that, it was a particular song she recorded that has been, and is yet, my 'go-to' pic-me-up when life, at times, seems draggy or blue.
Recorded in 1953; and, as that was the year I was born, I claimed it as my very special own song. A deeply personal touchstone; always there, on call, and never failing to lighten my heart.

I first heard this at age 4. Mum quickly got tired of hearing me massacre the thing and so taught me the proper words. I've since taught it to a dozen? kids, young and old alike, along the way.

Good-by Ms. Day, and God Bless.

When in danger or in doubt, run in circles scream and shout!

A common mistake made when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

I know what you mean about the crush, Skip, despite the somewhat unglamorous name that her parents bestowed upon her. I liked her, and her movies, as she had a wholesome appeal, but was always very attractive too! RIP Doris.

Re: Good-by Ms Day, and Thanks for the Help

My DD memory: In the late '80s I was at an Open University summer school studying Control Engineering, at the same time there was another group doing something called 'Women's changing role in society' which consisted of days spent watching Doris Day movies and listening to her records. Their lectures sounded like a better place to nurse the inevitable hangover that accompanies such events so I tried to blag my way in to offer a bloke's perspective. Unfortunately, it didn't happen because the feminazis went on strike after they were assigned a male tutor. Gender politics is nothing new.

Yup, also fancied her - seem to recall a lovely image of her just in a bloke's shirt..?

(quick edit - now I think more, she might have been in the top half of a bloke's pyjamas...just as hot anyway!)

I suspect you may have been older with that thought Paul?
