Excellent points John. Age is all in the mind and I have no doubt that riding motorcycles keeps you young. See you in Kelso old buddy!

Slightly off topic - someone told me recently that after 70 you have to re-apply for your licence every three years, is that right...? (seems a bit age-ist?)

Last month, after 45 years riding, I did the Safe rider course with Suffolk police, just to test myself really. One evening in the classroom followed by a full day on the road with one cop to two civvies. It was not only great to ride at speed with the pros, but demonstrated perfectly that you're never too old to learn (or remember what you forgot). If they run them in your area, I recommend you give it a go.

well done Steve ,,,the problem is riders that think they are really good ,,,,

i have been involved with RoSPA for 10 yrs or so ,, achieved two golds and was an observer for 3yrs

i have just gone back after 3yrs and its surprising how you get into little habits ,,

as you i went out with Paul White he's the area examiner and a x police motorcycle patrolman

now he teaches advance riding as well as doing RoSPA work ,, i booked a day with him not cheap but worth every penny ,

i advice anyone that there always something to learn

My old chaps 81 now, still goes out regular on his Bonneville scrambler, rides it like he stole it the daft old coot. When feeling more sedate the '53 velo MAC comes out for a plonk. Bless him.

well put john, the slightly worn around the edges bit is on the outside and who cares about that bit, its the inside bit that counts especially whats inside your heart and I think most of us have a good heart
