    Shovelhead Oil Line Leak

I put new oil lines on last year with no leaks. Now one of the lines going to the oil filter on the bracket under the swing arm is leaking. These are hard to get at and I don't want to just keep tightening the clamp. Does anyone have any tips on using a sealant or otherwise to help stop it leaking?

    Thanks,

    Rod

i.m.o.......Depending on the age of the hose(s), you may be laying a trap for yourself if the clamp and hose isn't loose to start with? If the line is old and hardened at the leaking end I would first try trimming about an inch off the offending end and reattach, that is, if there's enough slack in the line for it. If not, replace the hose, which, of course, caution sez replace them both as long as you're up under there.

Had that set-up myself. Until the second time I went to change the filter and it wouldn't come off. Even with a spike hammered through it and powered by all the curses in my vocabulary. I took it to be one of those cosmic messages that occasionally guide (and coincide with) my own ideas. Went straight down to Thunder Bay (my go-to indy) and got an old style tank. Happy days again.
Whats left of the filter is still attached to the mount (32) and in the bin. For any who haven't seen the set-up in place, the pic of the bracket (32) is actually drawn backwards for the illustration.

Thanks for the heads up on item 32, I will add a note to my parts book - I would not have known otherwise!

No, they are rubber hoses supplied by Matt's + good quality clamps. I'm going out there later to take the bracket off and see if they are too loose.
