DOES THE KEIHIN BUTTERFLY CARBURETOR NEED TO BE MOUNTED WITH THE 1/2 SPACER CORK OR CAN I INSTALL IT DIRECT TO INTAKE MAINFOLD ON RAMJET

My understanding is that the spacer block is there to insulate the carb from the heat of the manifold and motor. It is there to prevent the contents of the carb from boiling.......often referred to as percolating

Yep.....as Hodgie said. You might get away with no spacer, or you might find you need it. I tend to prefer the spacer. Had same carb and manifold...and spacer.... for years on 1985 FXEF. Spacer was said to be critical asset for kickstarting.

And they are only £4.70 from a Zodiac agent.
In addition to potential problems with heat, you may find that without the spacer your air box backing plate makes contact with your tank.
Why would you not fit the spacer anyway?
