    Re: Sunday Ride to Shoreham

I turned up in Wickham just before 10am to find Guns and Nobby already there as well as Cliff on his old FXR!
Next to arrive was Steve and Pauline and Lastly Jim & Jo who were running late due to worries over Jo's bike playing up.

Finally we set off for Shoreham airport , onto the A32 briefly before cutting off through the lanes going on a right old magical mystery tour, we did pass through Midhurst and Cowdray park on A roads before getting back on the minor roads again. We almost made it to Shoreham intact in one group, that was until yours truly could hold on no longer and stopped in a secluded lane for a wee break. The other oldies in our group Guns, Nobby and Cliff decided to also take advantage of the seclusion as well. Needless to say the rest of them carried on regardless not noticing we had stopped in typical New Forest stylee!

Once all back on the bikes we carried on down the lanes hoping to find the rest of the group waiting for us, finally came to a junction nobody to be seen in either direction. Luckily Nobby had a sat nav so he guided us to Shoreham airport where ironically we arrived before the others. It turns out they did eventually stop and sent Jim back to find us but too late.

It was the first time at the airport for quite a few of us and what an interesting art deco style building ,but of course architecture versus food meant we soon headed for the Hummingbird restaurant to order some nosh which we chose to eat outside on the terrace to enjoy the sun and watch the planes and helicopters at close quarters. We stayed for a pleasant couple of hours before heading back stopping at Petersfield Heath lake for a stretch and ice cream break and watch the people out boating and enjoy the noise of the kids playing in the playparks. Jim particularly enjoyed that bit.

WE had lost Cliff at this point not through any Breakdown but purely because he had to dash off to get petrol having gone onto reserve . Turns out his bike was running somewhat rich going by the pictures of the spark plugs he posted up elsewhere, hence the poor MPG return catching him out.

Finally it was time to say goodbye and split off into separate groups to make our way home, Guns off course having not reached his 3,000 calorie intake for the day was dropping into Loomies for a top up-lol

Well done to Steve for planning an "interesting" route and organising such a great day at short notice.

    Cheers mate
