Angry New Fuel Tank Paint Job - BUGG£R!!!!

Didn't tighten the petcock fully on fitting, fuel has leaked out and band new paint job has now blistered all around the union.

    What do i do?

    1. F&ck it and leave it to grow and become part of the 'look'? (I ain't gonna take it apart again for a re-spray until i do a motor rebuild in about 3-4 years time).

    or

    2. Pop the blister and squeeze the fuel out and try and dry it out (if this even works!)?

    or

    3. Something else you wise folks can come up with.......

you could cut off the paint around the tap to stop doing more damage make sure theres no more leaks then paint the patch ,

this has been done many times ,,,,,your not the first ,

Has it happened in such a way that you could do Johns suggestion and then make it look like a deliberate contrast..?

I think that may be the best option.

There are paint protectors (basically a chrome ring) that fit around the filler hole in the fuel tank and that may cover up your unfortunate mishap. Sorry to read - good luck.

You can also make your own protector by sourcing some coloured vinyl and cutting your own protector HTH

Unhappy Re: New Fuel Tank Paint Job - BUGG£R!!!!

If this happened so easily sounds like you're gonna need to be uber careful round the filler cap when filling up with fuel.

i think he said it was his fuel tap fitting that was leaking

    not the filler
