I'll bet there's a few old dogs rusting away in sheds, but if you are determined to get a decent one it will turn up. Maybe worth going on facebook and finding a chopper based group or looking on facebook marketplace. Maybe you need to decide which engine, then start looking. When I was at V Twin Customs yesterday, he had a few bikes laying around. You could give him a call - Nick Larkin. Seems like a pretty fair bloke. Won't be cheap though.

Cheers Rod i will look him up and look at the other avenues you describe, i think its a buyers market at the moment obviuosly no one is recieving the same prices as 10 yrs ago when the chopper market was booming due to the TV coverage but when you look on Ebay the same chops have sat there with steady reductions for nearly 2 yrs. I sold mine at a great loss and you may ask why did you sell it, Well it was a pro street design low and long i want low and a high neck what i should have done was sell the frame and swapped everything over but hey ho i made the wrong move. The motor was a 124" TP loads of grunt but it put some heat out so not a pose around town job anyway i will see what comes up.

I'm not, and never have been into chops; but I suspect that part of the reason why they don't sell on is because if you're going to have a chop at all you want it to be yours from the ground up, not to ride somebody else's creation.

it's also undeniable that the likes of OCC created a flood of "same but different" bikes on the market which will take a while to disperse, especially since a lot seem to have been bought as "investments".

I've also long subscribed to the view that the value of any customised bike which cannot easily be built back to stock or near to, is the sum total of its components, no more.

the problem with chops are ,,, if you build one it will always be referred to as your bike,, wether you own it or sold it on ,

very few ever make back whats been spent ,

theres two camps original right down too rust ,,sorry patina ,, or the normal altered over the year general bike

if your buying don't think of it as an investment ,,buy it to ride and if in time you might get your money back

i think the shovel set up right is a great riding bike ,, handles well good on petrol and now brakes well ,,

theres always been a lot of rubbish said about the early AMF bikes but most have never rode or owned one ,,

i have found over the years most problems with any bike was down to lack of maintenance and so called home mechanics bodging jobs ,

john And Kev are both correct a Chop is a personal choice if i find what i'm looking for then it will be for me and it will be ridden no show pony the one i recently sold was a show bike and as stunning it was and it did ride nice it just wasnt the type for me. As i previuosly said i'm looking for a High neck and low at the rear, i have the Street Glide for both of us which gallops nicely across Europe but i want something for me to chill on and i have always hanckered after a nice chop so i will keep hunting

One bike that stands out for me is this Roland Sands Mescalero bike. Indian engine, but I'm sure that could be changed easily enough.

I love it, if I was a young bloke I would be getting a bank loan and riding that thing like a proper nutter.
