    Colour Identification

My 2001 FXDWG has a sizable chip in the paint work on the tank but i have no idea what the code number of the colour is. This is because it had no original paperwork when I got it. It was only registered in the U.K. in April this year. All I can say is that it is a very dark blue ! How do i go about identifying it so that I can get some touch up paint ? The dealer had a go at sorting it for me before delivery but didn't make a very good job of it. Its not all that noticeable , but when you know its there it does your head in !!!

Any decent paint shop/body shop now has scanners that can automatically match the shade. take a mudguard in? Or ride the bike through the door....

Thanks for the very useful link Rogero, Looks like there are only 3 options for 2001. so I'll start with the Luxury Blue and I should get the correct one by process of elimination .

Just received a sample of the colour you suggested, Rogero and it looks o.k. to me. Will test it out when it gets a tad warmer.

    Re: Colour Identification

Took the tank indoors over the weekend (in the attic) and applied several layers of the paint , allowing an hour between each dose. Rubbed it down with very fine wet and dry and then T-Cutted it. Must say , I am rather pleased with the result. Not absolutely perfect but not really noticable. Back on the bike now so I'll have another go when the weather warms up and I should be able to sort it completely.

Finish it off with Clear Laquer for a glossy shine. Also protects the paint.
