    Factory Manual

Do I have to go to my friendly local H-D dealer to obtain one of the above for my 2001 Dyna Wideglide or are they readily available elsewhere ? If so, how much can I expect to pay ? I've got a Haynes version but it seems very sketchy, to say the least !

You can download a free copy here.

    http://www.motopdf.com/support/hdm/Dyna%2099%2005%20Service%20Manual.pdf

Once you download it, you can print off the pages you need for any particular job.

Or you can buy the paper version, but they can be expensive. There's a one on ebay now for £170 Item No:
    352702186170
    here:

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Workshop-Manual-Harley-Davidson-Dyna-Glide-Models-2000-Fxd-FXDWG-Stand-1999/352702186170?hash=item521eb042ba:g:kewAAOSwRq5dE1j g

It sounds expensive, but will pay for itself with the first job you tackle. Compared to dealer charges.

When I was looking for a paper version I put a wanted add on the Facebook page : Harley Davidson bits bikes n stuff 4 sale in the U.K.

And one of our members on there had one they let me have. (Cheers BaZa).

    Re: Factory Manual

I downloaded a free one online and got it printed and ring bound for about 30 quid. There’s loads of printers online. You send the the pdf and they send you the hard copy. Well worth it, you can read your manual in bed!

You'll do more damage than good using a Haynes manual ...

Agreed - the parts book is also worth getting. the drawings are useful to understand assemblies AND the right part number enables eBay searching for NOS parts at great prices.

The WS books are still a bit pricey second hand but well worth getting

My missus always gets the "eye roll" when she questions what i am reading myself to sleep with sometimes :-)
