One factor of brand loyalty is that you are contributing to your native economy and therefore in theory creating jobs for your own populace.

As far as assembly, sales and repair is concerned there's truth in that. However, when parts are manufactured in China etc you are also contributing to their economy. So, in a sense it doesn't matter which manufacturer you choose.

It's the same all over and it's called Globalisation. No one knows who owns what and where the money is going.

The question is - do Harley have a choice?
    Time out of mind

Well imo they certainly have choice. In fact i think they have too many choices. In a fickle world that is part of the problem.

Their choice has always been Integrity & Authenticity vs. 'the quick buck' & the maximisation of profit...

Guess which they chose, over and over again..?

So, I'm fairly sure that they deserve to fail, simply because they've milked the buyers for too long, produced an overpriced and sub standard product, and prioritised the wrong parts of the business.

How patriotic Americans can accept a bike purportedly 'Made in America' that has so many Chinese parts, is beyond me. And apparently, all chrome has been done in China, since the 2006 model year...

No way would I ever buy a post Evo bike, and many others feel the same. As to the smaller capacity bikes that Harley is gambling its future on... Don't make me laugh!

There may be too many models. But, in my opinion, they are missing one essential model if they want to keep the current customer base.
An electric bike that looks like a cruiser.
I would consider buying an electric bike, as long as it is in the classic cruiser style.

Neither would I David - electric cruiser dripping in chrome and tassles, might as well complete it with a ring bell on the handlebars and stabilizers on the back wheel!
