    Main fuse

Does removing the main fuse act as disconnecting the battery?
    Thanks

Depends on what model, and if it's standard specification, but as a general rule no.

Some circuits may still be Live, e.g. electric start normally has a direct +ve feed from battery.

    Many thanks.
I ride Sportster Iron 883 by the way.

    Re: Main fuse

If you do a google search using "harley davidson sportster 2008 wiring diagram" but replacing the year with the year of your bike you can get the wiring diagram from the serviceinfo website.

    Example of using 2008

    Many thanks Andy.
I’ll check the diagram out for Sportster 2015.
Just to explain it is easier to pull out the main fuse to disarm security system which drains the battery than disconnect. -ve.
Do you think it’s fine to keep my bike in a garage for two weeks without main fuse plugged in?

    Re: Main fuse

What exactly are you wanting to do?

There won't be a problem with the fuse being out but obviously you have lost your alarm.

I only pull the fuse to work on the bike. At all other times I use the HD tender charger to keep the battery topped up.

    Re: Main fuse

If you're going to pull the fuse to work on the bike, switch the ignition on first to disable security, then after you've finished replace the fuse before switching ignition off, otherwise you'll spend hours resetting the alarm manually...
