    Question Solo seat recommendations ?

    Hi,
Does anyone know of a comfortable solo or sport type seat for a 2000 Sportster Sport ?
I have an HD one but it was solid due to age so I had it re-padded.
However the seat is still totally uncomfortable and to be honest the standard of workmanship was poor.

I was looking at the Saddlemen Renegade as a replacement as these use gel rather than foam.

Does anyone have any knowledge of these seats or can someone recommend a good solo type seat that will allow longish miles without the pain ?
I'm an overweight 15 1/2 stone so that probably isn't helping.

The standard Le Pera Daytona type would also be OK - except Le Pera are hugely expensive for the gel options. Are they worth the money ?

Alternatively, does anyone know of a decent upholsterer, preferably in the north (but not Preston) ?

    Cheers

    Stu

    Hi Stu
Seats are a very personal thing, what’s great for one arse could be piles worse for another.
Me personally have always used a Corbin , I find that I can ride for hours with no ill affects. Had one on my previous bike
(Yam FJ1200) and have now got a solo Corbin for my Super Glide well happy.(prob a similar weight)

    You are overweight @ 15.7 ???????
    You're 5ft 1in right?
Since having Madam at home for the last 5 months due to this virus, I have dropped from 16.2 to 14.10 -- and I've been really trying with tins of Stella and wine, must be stress related ---
Saddlemen get rave reviews, I fitted a Mustang from ARH for cost, way better than the original 30 year old item, that hurt!!!
I think you pays your money and take the chance.

5ft 11 and been trying to get to 14 stone for years. SWMBO was furloughed for a month and I went up to 16-3 !
I was drinking lager but dropped back to my normal weight once I'd found a reliable source of Dog.
Thanks for the tips, I forgot about Corbin and will have a look at them.

    Cheers

I decided to go Mustang. Slightly wider than the Renegade and I've got a F-- A--- !

Thanks for your help - I'll let you know how I get on when it arrives.

    Re: Solo seat recommendations ?

Been out for a couple of rides @ 30 miles. The Mustang seat is a big improvement on the Sportster 2 up SE and Hugger seats I have. The 2 up seat is a bit bulky but more comfortable than the re-upholstered Hugger seat even though I suspect it is about as old as the bike.
    I'll stick with the Mustang.
