Hi Fi - What you got?

Recently, in anticipation of even more time spent indoors I decided to get a move on and finish the living room so I could get my stereo out again.

I've mostly had British hi fi - it's the best IMO. it lasts a long time and you can get it serviced and repaired. My old Quad set up is still better than a lot of the modern stuff and you can update it with streamers etc + play your old vinyl.

Music is very important to me and a good stereo is a pleasure.

Just wondering what you lot have set up for listening to your favourite sounds?

Re: Hi Fi - What you got?

I used to be into Hi Fi... back in the 1990's.

My set up was an Onix OA-21 amp, Heybrook speakers, and a Linn Axis turntable.

Then I got a Pink Triangle PT-Too turntable, and power supply... pretty high end, in its day.

I collected it from the house in Camberwell, SE London where the two men who made it lived.

He was a rather 'refined' chap, and when his boyfriend saw me bunjee'ing the carton onto the pillion seat of my then brand new FXRT, he nearly flipped!

Now it's an Arcam amp. and Arcam CD player, and another fairly low end turntable.

You can probably guess from those sketchy details that my interest has waned.

Although I still listen to music, I do what I used to deride: listen 'casually'...

I'm just as interested in spoken word stuff now, i.e. comedy from post war decades.

The social history content is fascinating, as a reflection of the society around it.

Looks like there's some serious hifi bods in the club. Hopefully, some of the rally dj's will start to recognise the wider tastes and provide accordingly.

    Just bought a 1958 stereogram.
Needs light restoration, but all still working.
